I’m just back from another challenging, expansive and creative coach training weekend in London. All about Balance and Perspectives. Thank you CTI and all my fellow coaches for another fantastic and fun weekend.
Coach development is a little like life itself, always moving forward. Each time I attend one of these modules I always feel there is something I want to physically pack up into my suitcase and bring back with me to keep the enthusiasm and inspiration going when I get home just in case it really is all dependent on external circumstances. This time it was the energy, the strength of voice, clarity of thought and body wisdom of one of the facilitators that I wanted to lay out on the security trays and watch as they went through the curtained x-ray area, enjoying the happy feeling as they emerged safely out the other side for me to pick up and take on my journey. Hmmn.
Rather, I now know I can metaphorically pack up all those qualities and add them to one of my ‘crew’ members to call upon anytime I need some more, say, outrageousness or command and control in my life. It’s a tool we coaches have access to and trust me I have felt the power of it.
We all need different ingredients to make up the great recipe we call life and sometimes what we actually see in another person so readily available, what we are in awe of, are things that we actually do have within ourselves. We are too quick to say ‘I couldn’t do that’ or ‘I’m just not like that’. Truly – you are. We all have different qualities within us, aspects of ourselves that just aren’t often on view. We need some way of accessing them when we particularly need a little extra umph or push or even kick up the backside.
Who’s missing in your crew? If you could sling your hook who would you like to trawl in and on board? What would you like to be able to draw on to move your life forward? Are you stuck in a situation that you feel you have tried ‘everything’ to sort out? Co-active coaching can help you find those useful crew members and toss overboard the tired and worn out free-loaders. It can also help you to take a different perspective and look at your situation from a new place. It is amazing what can be different and there is always, always, another way to look at things. If you would like to fly Life Reconnected with all you need in your luggage to get where you want to go – get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
